Carbon dioxide monitors for homes, classrooms and workplaces

A carbon dioxide monitor tells you whether a room is being ventilated. People breathe out CO2 all day, so in a room with too little fresh air the reading climbs; open a window and you can watch it fall. Outdoor air sits around 400 to 420 ppm, a well ventilated room usually stays under 800, and above roughly 1000 to 1500 ppm a room is recycling the air already in it.

Both monitors here read the same three things: carbon dioxide, temperature and humidity. The palm sized meter is rechargeable, has an audible alarm and moves between rooms. The jumbo monitor is a wall mounted display sized to be read from across a classroom, office, gym or workshop.

What these monitors do not do

They do not detect carbon monoxide, smoke, particulates or volatile organic compounds, they have no app or network connection, and they are not safety or medical devices. No accuracy tolerance or calibration figure is published for either model, so none is claimed. If you need documented accuracy for compliance or reporting, ask us before you order.

Where to put one

At head height, away from a window and a doorway, and away from where someone is breathing directly onto it. A monitor on a windowsill reads the outside air coming in, which looks reassuring and tells you nothing about the room. For a room in constant use, leave the meter plugged in and let the alarm do the work, or mount the jumbo display where the whole room can see it.
